Mission Statement
Our mission here at Studio Psalms is to provide a positive learning environment filled with love and acceptance for each student, regardless of skill level or time commitment.
Our goal for the studio is to be a place where each child is valued, encouraged and uplifted. We strive to offer students a balance of fun and quality dance or acrobatic instruction.
We believe that every child’s God-given talents should be explored and developed, and we focus on training both the body and spirit of our students. While we believe technical excellence is important, we also stress character building skills such as honesty, integrity and consideration of others.
We are often asked what makes our dance studio “Christian”. Besides our commitment to operate under biblical principles, we believe what sets us apart is our 3-part promise to our families:
Modesty in Dress~~We understand that the nature of the movements used in dance and acrobatics require form-fitting clothing. However, we want to ensure our clothing is not unnecessarily revealing. Some dance and workout wear do not meet this criteria, and will be discouraged.
Conservative Dance Moves~~Scripture gives many references to the use of dance as a form of joyous celebration and of reverent worship. Dancing is a beautiful, artistic method of self-expression that often communicates what music alone cannot. At Studio Psalms, we will avoid sensual or suggestive dance moves, as we believe this is inappropriate for students of any age.
Careful Music Choices~~We are committed to choosing music that is positive and uplifting, no matter what the style. Lyrics played in class and recitals will always be wholesome, never offensive. Examples of music styles used in the studio are: Christian or family-friendly, instrumental, show tunes or movie themes, etc.
